According to Gartner1, "investment in digital business transformation is now the most-common motivation for saving money from IT budgets (62 percent of respondents)." I believe that this research indicates that the need to deliver digital business initiatives without increasing budgets can have a negative correlation to overall organizational performance. From my viewpoint, this means that organizations need to drive down the cost of their existing IT investments to invest in digital transformation.
Red Hat has a history of helping organizations reduce the cost of IT, from infrastructure to applications, while also helping to lay the foundation for open source digital transformation. More recently, Red Hat has sought to help organizations reduce the cost of virtualization, aiming to make it easier to accelerate their digital transformation journey through innovative technologies such as Red Hat Ansible Automation or Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform, Red Hat’s comprehensive enterprise Kubernetes Platform.
As organizations seek to optimize and transform their existing virtualization environments, data and service protection and timely recovery can remain critical requirements for many users. Often this can mean that organizations want to use existing backup and recovery solutions with newly-optimized virtualization infrastructure or they may want solutions that better fit a newly virtualized strategy.
We are aiming to meet both of these digital transformation needs through our work with Veeam, a Red Hat ISV partner that provides a set of solutions designed to improve disaster recovery and enhance system availability. To help organizations continue to use Veeam products with Red Hat’s open virtualization solutions, Veeam, in collaboration with Red Hat, recently released a configuration guide on how to backup and recover workloads running on Red Hat Virtualization. By using Veeam Intelligent Data Management with Red Hat Virtualization, organizations can better meet the higher availability service level and cost efficiencies expected of transformation initiatives.
The configuration guide provides a step-by-step guide that users of both Veeam Availability Suite and Red Hat Virtualization can reference and follow. This can help smooth the process for backing up virtual machines running on Red Hat Virtualization and for virtual machines (VMs) running any number of certified operating systems, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
This collaboration between Veeam and Red Hat helps to provide confidence to organizations that their resources and skills around Veeam can transfer more easily to a new, optimized virtual infrastructure. In addition, Veeam and Red Hat are continuing to work together to deepen the interoperability between Veeam Availability Suite and Red Hat’s broader portfolio. Please check out the configuration guide and let us know what you think!
