We are pleased to announce that the much-anticipated JBoss Seam 2.1 is now available. Seam 2.1 includes numerous new features and upgrades, including:

  • Support for Wicket
  • Identity management
  • Permission management
  • Support for JAX-RS
  • And much more

JBoss Seam is an application framework for building next generation Web 2.0 applications by unifying and integrating technologies such as Asynchronous JavaScript and XML (AJAX), Java Server Faces (JSF), Enterprise Java Beans (EJB3), Java Portlets and Business Process Management (BPM).

It reduces complexity at the architecture and the API level and enables developers to assemble complex web applications with simple annotated Plain Old Java Objects (POJOs), componentized UI widgets and very little XML. JBoss Seam is a key component of the JBoss Enterprise Application Platform.

JBoss Seam also shows the importance of standards-based open source technology, as Web Beans, an open source component model for Java, draws heavily upon the ideas laid down by Seam. Web Beans is widely supported across the board by Oracle, Borland, Google, Sun and other major technology providers, yet continues to draw much on a foundation provided by JBoss Seam.

For more information on Seam 2.1 features, please read the Seam team’s post which includes extensive detail on the feature set and documentation.
