Earlier today we announced the winners of the 2019 Red Hat Innovation Awards; however, that’s just part of the story. Now in its 13th year, the Red Hat Innovation Awards is designed to recognize the technological achievements of Red Hat customers around the world. Creative thinking, determined problem-solving and transformative uses of Red Hat technology are evident not just in our winners but throughout the entire pool of award nominees.

Judging the awards is not an easy task. Each year, judges consistently tell us they wish they could recognize additional organizations for their innovative solutions and accomplishments. So for the second time, we’re excited to recognize an additional group of Red Hat customers using open source technology to make waves in their respective industries.

Ally Financial

As a leader in digital financial services, Ally Financial delivers online banking, auto finance and insurance, home loans, investing and corporate finance to its customers. The company wanted more reliable and predictable deployments to keep up with an ever-changing market. Ally created a containerized hybrid cloud platform to support cloud-native application development using a range of Red Hat technologies and services, including Red Hat OpenShift Application Services, Red Hat Fuse and Red Hat Consulting. The company also adopted DevOps processes to increase collaboration, innovation and efficiency. The result is a new platform and processes that have improved time to market, increased agility, and strengthened its competitive advantage. The time for go-live vetting has been reduced, and teams are able to rapidly react to problems that arise.

Banco Galicia

Banco Galicia, one of Argentina’s leading banks, began rethinking its business processes related to digital enablement and engagement, particularly the way it on-boards new customers and creates self-service routes. It also needed a platform on which to test, fix, deploy and manage new digital services. Banco Galicia’s Digital Experience Platform Initiative involved migrating the electronic channels and channel back-ends, running on legacy technologies and architectures, to a cloud-native, omnichannel platform. The open banking solution was built on Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform and used Red Hat 3Scale API Manager and Red Hat Fuse. They worked with Red Hat Consulting to implement the platform and conduct both architecture and skill transfer workshops, helping in the initial phase of operation of the platform operation. The result was a platform that could produce a single view of the customer, improve the time-to-market for new products and deliver significant IT efficiencies.

BMO Financial Group

BMO Financial Group, a Canadian multinational investment bank and financial services company, is undergoing a transformation and leveraging DevOps as a means of accelerating software delivery performance across all technology teams in Canada and in the U.S. The goal of the initiative is to aid faster development and deployment of applications, provide flexibility to experiment with new ways to increase customer adoption and satisfaction, allow for pivoting direction when necessary, and keep up with compliance and regulatory demands. That challenge led to the development of DevOps-Phi, a platform that creates configurable DevOps CI/CD pipelines as code on-demand. Developed using Red Hat Ansible Automation and Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform, it runs OpenShift jobs at scale to automatically configure CI/CD pipelines to build, test, verify and define how applications are deployed into virtualized and/or container environments. The result is the standardization of DevOps pipelines at BMO Financial Group, thereby enabling teams to more easily adopt DevOps practices quickly and effectively.

Tata Communications

Tata Communications, a global digital infrastructure provider, helps companies digitally transform with hybrid cloud and multicloud strategies, application modernization and data-led decision making. To support growing customer needs, the company collaborated with Red Hat to enhance its IZO Private Cloud service and provide its enterprise customers a reliable hybrid cloud experience across the globe. Tata Communications adopted Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform to integrate the solution stack and improve datacenter management, helping to reduce time to market and accelerate app delivery and DevOps. The company also used the scale and operational efficiency of Red Hat OpenStack Platform to improve the customer experience. With its new open architecture, Tata Communications was able to speed time to market, accelerate its sales cycles, extend its global reach and improve its end user experience.

X by Orange

Communications service provider X by Orange, a subsidiary of Orange Spain focused on business-to-business (B2B) digital services, worked with Red Hat to create its software-defined strategy with Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform and in collaboration with Red Hat Consulting. In less than one year, X by Orange built a greenfield, cloud-native platform that enables it to more quickly create and release new services using a provider-agnostic Kubernetes platform on top of multicloud infrastructure. The service provider also embraced DevOps and agile development to more rapidly create and deliver digital services to business customers.

Congratulations to our all our Red Hat Innovation Award winners and honorable mentions!
