The award, given to a project manager under the age of 30, recognizes superior performance and outstanding project management methods in delivering a successful project or turning around a project that was in trouble.

With Red Hat since 2006, Faulkner came to Australia from Washington, D.C., to oversee multiple accounts from a delivery perspective and to also assist with pre-sales. His submission to PMI reflected his oversight of a high-profile set of work-streams that helped a customer execute a multi-million dollar engagement for a state government by implementing a smart card payment system to unify all forms of public transport.

“David is an incredible young man,” said Akhil Bhaskar, senior manager, Red Hat Asia-Pacific. “It is not only his depth of knowledge of Red Hat tools and technology, but the relationships he forms with people that sets him apart from the crowd. Beyond being just a proud moment for David and for Red Hat, this award is significant because it showcases work that was extremely successful for a customer.”

“The services project management community are extremely proud of David's achievement and it's great to see one of our project management ambassadors receive this type of recognition” said Geoff Gardner, services global PMO/PM community lead, Red Hat North America.

Faulkner was judged based on his project background, individual contribution and key measures, as provided through a nomination submission, a presentation, and interviews with a panel of judges.

Faulkner received his award as part of a ceremony in Sydney on 2nd May 2013.
