You’ve seen much from us recently about record-setting performance by Red Hat Enterprise Linux. Our customers - many of whom rely on Red Hat Enterprise Linux for their most mission-critical or performance-intensive workloads - expect that their operating platform will be capable of handling the job. We’re pleased that Red Hat Enterprise Linux has set another world record, demonstrating again its ability to meet these performance expectations.

 

We’re excited to share news of a new world-record 2-processor result achieved on the two-tier SAP® Sales and Distribution (SD) standard application benchmark using Dell PowerEdge R730 server running Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7, and SAP enhancement package 5 for the SAP ERP application Release 6.0 with SAP Adaptive Server® Enterprise (SAP ASE)16(1). Of note, this is the first SAP benchmark result that uses Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 in the solution, and is a true testament to Red Hat’s continued commitment of delivering choice, value, and innovation to our customers.

 

This result edges out our recently announced result on the two-tier SAP SD standard application benchmark that used HP ProLiant DL380 Gen9 and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.5(2), reflecting performance improvements introduced in the newest major release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux. Both of these results are better than the highest score posted by any 2-processor server running Microsoft Windows on the two-tier SAP SD standard application benchmark(3):

 

When compared to other 2-processor results on the two-tier SAP SD standard application benchmark that were using a Linux operating system, Red Hat Enterprise Linux has a commanding lead, surpassing the closest competing Linux result by SUSE Enterprise Linux Server 11 by over 2x(4).
