Cloud computing should not be a world that is dominated by public clouds or on-premises datacenters; instead, it should be a blend of technologies that create the concept of hybrid cloud. The Red Hat Global Customer Tech Outlook for 2019 further details this point, with only six percent of respondents planning a pure public cloud strategy, while 30 percent have a hybrid cloud strategy.

So what exactly is the hybrid cloud mix? And how can you handle multiple public clouds plus on-premises resources? What about Kubernetes and containers? How is anyone REALLY doing this?

At Red Hat Summit 2019, May 7-9 in Boston, Red Hat aims to address these questions and more around hybrid cloud infrastructure and strategies. From Kubernetes and Linux containers to hybrid cloud storage and functions-as-a-service (FaaS), presenters at Red Hat Summit will break these concepts down using real world examples to highlight the power, scale and innovation of hybrid cloud infrastructure in modern computing environments.

Some not-to-be-missed sessions include:

Hybrid cloud Infrastructure—how Deutsche Bank uses OpenShift across cloud environments

Deutsche Bank started their journey with Red Hat OpenShift back in 2016, and their environment now spans two internal and one external cloud provider. Join this session to hear about their journey and their strategy to deliver applications more safely to production in a day.

Red Hat OpenShift roadmap: What the next year means to you, to us, and the industry

Kubernetes and containerization has changed the way we think about datacenter architecture and application development. With the advent of Operators, Istio, and lessons learned from the Red Hat OpenShift 3 architecture while working with our customer base, you’ll learn about how we've designed Red Hat OpenShift 4. Come to this session to see what it means to you. What are the technology enhancements in 2019, and into 2020, that can change the way we think about compute, development, and how we can use these technologies on-premise and in public clouds? In a first look, we'll demonstrate new features and explain where we're taking Red Hat OpenShift and why.

Rapidly deliver innovative apps and services with Kubernetes-powered hybrid cloud

To help solve traditional IT and DevOps challenges, and help software developers innovate faster in the hybrid cloud, organizations can use an infrastructure platform based on Kubernetes and ecosystem technologies. This session will focus on the architectural details of Kubernetes-native infrastructure; the keys to success for unifying Linux container and virtual machine-based workflows; day 0-2 operational needs and how Red Hat is driving to operationalize Kubernetes-powered hybrid clouds at scale.

Red Hat on Red Hat: Transitioning Red Hat IT to hybrid cloud infrastructure using OpenStack and Ceph Storage

Red Hat IT, like other Red Hat customers, is on an open hybrid journey to migrate workloads from traditional platforms to a container-based model. However, as part of this project, we are rethinking what it means to be a datacenter and how applications function across multiple physical sites. In support of this vision, datacenters are being rebuilt to run on Red Hat OpenStack Platform with Red Hat Ceph Storage and Red Hat Gluster Storage to provide a more reliable foundation upon which to layer Red Hat OpenShift and a complete application stack. This session will focus on the Red Hat OpenStack Platform infrastructure and configuration used to achieve this architecture, the challenges we faced, and the integration points with Red Hat OpenShift.

X by Orange: How to build a telco Operator from scratch

X by Orange committed to launch a new, fully software-defined telco operator in Spain—from scratch. They wanted to “Uberize” the telco business by being cloud-based and not owning hardware. This session will discuss how X by Orange created its infrastructure using Red Hat OpenShift with an “everything is automated” deployment policy and show how Red Hat Consulting helped the company's goals become reality.
