A Secure Supply Chain Vision

Friday, Oct. 15 | 9:20-9:25am

Imagine a software supply chain, where every pull request, dependency, package, container and config is accounted for, right from the developers IDE to a production service. This might seem a lofty goal, and a reach to high, it is however quite possible with the exciting convergence of projects that is unfolding in the Open Source ecosystem. This talk will outline this vision, the OSS projects helping to make this happen and a call to arms to the community to help shape this into a reality.

Christoph Blecker

Principal Site Reliability Engineer, Red Hat

Sustaining a Contributor Community's Next Generation

Friday, Oct. 15 | 9:25-9:40am

In this session, two long-time community leaders welcome you to help write the next chapters of Kubernetes. In 2019, the Kubernetes project entered its current chapter when the original group of community leaders passed the baton of governance to the first fully community-elected steering committee. How has the community adapted to the rise and ubiquity of Kubernetes adoption? What kind of challenges does the project face in trying to create sustainable momentum? What does the project need from contributors and companies that want to support it? We'll walk you through a mix of history, some introspection, and make a call to action to the broader cloud-native community. Through their unique perspectives, Paris and Christoph will bring attendees into the governance side of the heptagon to tell the story of what it's really like to steward one of the worlds largest and fastest growing multi-stakeholder open source projects.
