IBM and Red Hat: Open Source Options for Optimizing Your IT Infrastructure

  • Speakers: Camilla Sharpe, IBM and George Drapeau, Red Hat
  • Date & Time: Tuesday, March 20 | 10:30AM - 11:10AM
  • Location: Breakers F
  • Abstract: As organizations look to modernize their IT infrastructures and embrace new technologies, they are seeking solutions that improve efficiency, are agile, and allow budgets to be focused on mission-critical initiatives. In this session, we will discuss how building flexible solutions requires leveraging containers, storage and cloud environments. Specifically, we will explore how IBM and Red Hat are working with open source communities to deliver leading-edge software and support solutions. We will also review real client examples that demonstrate how our collaborative approach has helped enterprises optimize their infrastructures while freeing resources to focus on business objectives, rather than day-to-day maintenance.

Why Run Red Hat Workloads on IBM Cloud

  • Speaker: Joe Mann, Sr. Solutions Architect, Red Hat
  • Date & Time: Wednesday, March 21 | 4:30PM - 5:10PM
  • Location: Lagoon B
  • Abstract: In today's IT landscape, it's becoming more and more important for enterprises to develop a sound hybrid cloud strategy for digital transformation. Some workloads are suited for public cloud but others require to remain on-premises or in other private cloud deployments. A key to this strategy is the portability of enterprise software subscriptions. Red Hat has partnered with IBM to allow our joint customers to utilize their existing Red Hat subscriptions into the IBM Cloud via Red Hat's Cloud Access, including RHEL, OpenShift, and much more. This allows our customers the ultimate flexibility in where t in where they deploy their Red Hat solutions, on-prem or on IBM Cloud, on virtual servers or bare metal. IBM has also partnered with Red Hat to ensure IBM Cloud is a trusted platform for Red Hat workloads, including offering certified RHEL images directly to our joint customers. Join us to learn more about the Red Hat/IBM Cloud partnership and why Red Hat workloads are suited to run on IBM Cloud.

Stop by our booth to learn about the following Red Hat technologies:

  • Flexibility & Reliability: offering the market outstanding flexibility for SAP HANA, with the ability to run up to 8 SAP HANA production instances on a single server and virtualization that can scale and adapt to your capacity needs and increase your system utilization and reliability.

  • Resiliency: providing up to 99.999 percent uptime and systems that have reliability features built into critical components, starting at the chip level.

  • Performance: utilizing a proven and stable platform built for big data workloads like SAP HANA, with simultaneous multi-threading, and are designed to execute more threads per core than x86-based servers. Manage more servers, deploy projects in less time, and respond to changing business needs quickly.

  • On-demand capacity growth: enabling customers to add cores and memory to a system running SAP HANA without requiring SAP re-certification of the configuration giving customers more option regarding the technology they use.

Red Hat software offerings, including OpenShift Container Platform, RHEL and JBoss Middleware, are available to customers on both virtualized and bare metal servers on IBM Cloud.
