Cloud Deployment with Red Hat OpenStack Platform 10 Director

The course is an introduction to the cloud deployment with Red Hat OpenStack Platform 10 director. It explains basic OpenStack-on-OpenStack (TripleO) concepts and guides students through the Red Hat OpenStack Platform director workflow, starting from the undercloud installation to the working overcloud. The course is lab-based. The lab environment is created on demand in a cloud and represents a datacenter infrastructure typically used for OpenStack deployment.

At the end of the course students will be able to use Red Hat OpenStack Platform director to register bare-metal nodes, inspect them, and install OpenStack with predefined node roles in a simple network environment. The course prepares students to pursue more advanced topics like cloud customization, composable services, network separation, integration with different storage backends, etc.

Red Hat OpenStack Platform 10 Foundations

Red Hat OpenStack Platform 10 Concepts and Architecture

This course covers Red Hat OpenStack Platform 10, which is based on the upstream Newton version of OpenStack, and provides an overview of the Red Hat OpenStack Platform architecture, describes a quick POC setup with Packstack, and provides detailed information on the concepts, architecture, environment, setup, and operation of Red Hat OpenStack Platform and its component services. Each of the OpenStack services is covered in detail: Keystone, Nova, Neutron, Glance, Cinder, Swift, Heat, Horizon, Tempest, Telemetry and Gnocchi. Other topics include Packstack, the MariaDB database, RabbitMQ messaging server, new command line client, instances, and lifecycle management. The labs primarily cover installing and configuring OpenStack components. The procedures provide an in-depth explanation of how components fit together and the dependencies between them. After completing this course, students will be able to deploy and manage a Red Hat OpenStack Platform 10 environment.

Students also become familiar with creating Source-to-Image (S2I) builds. After completing this course, students will understand and be able to demonstrate how to deploy, configure, and administer an OpenShift environment.
