Rick Akie is senior vice president and general manager of North America Commercial Sales at Red Hat. Akie joined Red Hat in June 2009 and leads Red Hat's North American sales organization with responsibility for sales, marketing, consulting, channels, and strategic planning. He has established a sales culture centered on the agility needed to keep up with open source innovation and transparency, which facilitates open and honest lines of communication with customers.
Akie has built and managed sales teams at large, global organizations and mid-size companies with a strong track record of revenue growth through understanding and delivering solutions targeted at Global 1000 companies. He brings to Red Hat more than 35 years of experience in the software industry.
Prior to joining Red Hat, Akie was vice president and general manager, East Region, at BEA Systems and has led sales teams at Tibco, Systinet, Cambridge Technology Partners, and Chordiant.
