When we started planning Red Hat Summit 2020, we were looking forward to seeing thousands of our closest friends in San Francisco and sharing information about progress and plans for the Red Hat product portfolio through 2020 and beyond. Introducing OpenShift virtualization, unifying virtual machines and cloud-native apps

The Red Hat Enterprise Open Source Survey revealed that more than 55% of enterprises surveyed are expecting to increase their use of containerized applications in 2020. While cloud-native applications represent the future of business innovation, many critical production applications remain based in traditional virtual machines (VMs). Today, we’re working to unify these traditional workloads with the cloud-native future through OpenShift virtualization, a new feature of Red Hat OpenShift built from the KubeVirt community project.

Openshift 4.4 continues the evolution of the Kubernetes platform

Today, Red Hat is introducing OpenShift 4.4, the latest update to the leading enterprise Kubernetes platform. This release continues to improve efficiency using the Kubernetes Operators model to automate the OpenShift platform and services that users depend on to deploy their containerized applications. OpenShift 4.4, includes features that IT operations teams and application developers can both appreciate.

Introducing Azure Red Hat OpenShift on OpenShift 4

For the past several years, Red Hat and Microsoft have worked together to co-develop hybrid cloud solutions intended to enable greater customer innovation. Last year, at Red Hat Summit 2019, Red Hat and Microsoft announced the general availability of Azure Red Hat OpenShift, the industry’s first jointly-engineered, managed and supported OpenShift service on a leading public cloud. Further extending our work together in the hybrid cloud, today at the Red Hat Summit virtual experience, Microsoft and Red Hat announced the general availability of Azure Red Hat OpenShift on OpenShift 4.
