Community. Collaboration. Transparency.
Open source is the best way to develop software. At one time, that was an extreme idea. Now, it’s an accepted truth. We’ve always believed it, so we apply open source principles to everything we do.
The power of people
Open source everywhere
We work to make sure open source ideas influence and improve the collaborative good works of others, in every walk of life. Wherever people pull together to solve a shared problem, Red Hat wants to lend a hand.
CO.LAB
We helped 25 girls build their own digital cameras. They helped us see the world in a new way.
Open Brand Project
An open initiative to update and simplify our corporate logo and brand system. It’s not a contest, it’s a collaboration.
Open Source Stories
From art to artificial intelligence, open source is changing the world.

Connecting with our communities
THE LAB at VAE Raleigh
In 2016 and 2017, Red Hat teamed up with VAE, a nonprofit creativity incubator and gallery in Raleigh, N.C., for a yearlong sponsorship of THE LAB. This program challenged artists from around the United States to collaborate.
South by Southwest 2017
In spring 2017 Red Hat was the presenting sponsor of the Open Source Pavilion at South by Southwest Create. In our Collaboration Greenhouse, visitors created more than 1,500 paper flowers to contribute to an oversized community garden.
South by Southwest 2016
In spring 2016 Red Hat made its first appearance at South by Southwest in the SX Create Open Source Pavilion. Attendees used crayons and markers to bring our booth to life by coloring, drawing, and decorating it in concert with others.
