SGI® UV Achieves Largest Certified Configuration for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 Raleigh

Red Hat and SGI raise the bar in reliable performance for mission-critical, large-scale computing environments

Today’s announcement is made in conjunction with the SC11 supercomputing conference in Seattle, WA, Nov. 12 – 18 (Red Hat booth #2423/SGI booth #1841).

This certification highlights the benefits of the newest generation of Intel® processors and SGI’s high performance computing technology for customers with data-intensive workloads requiring outstanding performance in a high-density form factor with excellent power efficiency. Targeting the high-end supercomputing, large-scale database and data analytic environments, the combination of Red Hat Enterprise Linux and SGI® UV 1000 paves the way for customers in the government, intelligence, and scientific communities to deliver more meaningful scientific and technical results.  As we enter the next generation of computing, moving from petaflops to exaflops, Red Hat and SGI are enabling some of the industry’s most mission-critical and large-scale computing applications.

Through the Red Hat Hardware Certification Program, the SGI UV 1000 server with 1,280 cores and 8TB of memory is now certified to run on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6. In addition to validating compatibility, Red Hat hardware certification gives customers the confidence that this SGI server configuration is fully supported by Red Hat when running with Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
