Metric-driven development with Ansible, InfluxDB, and Grafana

About this video

Metric-driven development (MDD) is when metrics are used to drive all application development. Collecting, measuring, and reporting metrics from your application stack is a crucial practice when you're producing and releasing software in short frequent iterations such as agile and continuous delivery workflows. You need to know that your apps are performing as expected once they're deployed and be able to quickly detect problems and take corrective action. Ansible is an open source automation tool that enables you to deploy and manage an end-to-end metrics collections stack using tools such as InfluxDB, Grafana, and others in your environment. Ansible can also be used to publish and react to metrics data.

In the session you learn how to:
-- Deploy a metrics collections stack with InfluxDB, Telegraf, and Grafana using Ansible playbooks and roles
-- Publish metrics data and events from Ansible
-- Monitor and trigger Ansible playbook runs using Kapacitor
