In its 16th year, Red Hat Summit has become known as the premiere open source technology event that brings together thousands of IT professionals for a high-energy event focused on innovation, education and collaboration. This year, Red Hat Summit 2020 Virtual Experience will be a free, immersive multi-day event from April 28-29, 2020, that will deliver the same inspiring content you’ve come to expect from us—keynotes, breakout sessions, access to Red Hat experts and more.

The best part? If you’re unable to attend or just want to hear something again, we’ll be recording much of the content, including all keynotes, and it will be available for up to one year after the event. So you don’t have to miss a moment!

Here’s what you’ll see:

  • Visionary technology industry keynotes: Attendees will hear keynotes from Red Hat executives including: Paul Cormier, president and CEO; DeLisa Alexander, executive vice president and chief people officer; Matt Hicks, executive vice president, Products and Technologies; Chris Wright, senior vice president and chief technology officer (CTO); Stefanie Chiras, vice president and general manager, Red Hat Enterprise Linux; and Burr Sutter, global director, Developer Experience.

    Additional industry keynotes will be delivered by:

    • IBM’s president Jim Whitehurst;

    • Intel’s executive vice president and general manager of the Data Platforms Group, Navin Shenoy;

    • Microsoft’s executive vice president of the Microsoft Cloud + AI Group, Scott Guthrie.

  • Inspirational customer keynotes: Customers from across industries are using open source to modernize infrastructure and applications and deliver exciting innovations. Attendees will hear keynotes from Red Hat customers including:

    • Credit Suisse’s head of Platform and Container Services and regional head of Hosting and Data Services, Daniel Ochsner;

    • Ford Motor Company’s director of Enterprise Architecture and Emerging Technologies, Eric Karsten;

    • Verizon’s vice president of Technology and Supplier Strategy, Srinivasa Kalapala.

  • Community keynotes: In open source, it’s all about community. And at Summit this year, we’re highlighting some innovative and exciting work being done in the open source community and the broader tech industry, including:

    • Open Source Stories Live: Red Hat brings you makers, artists, coders and leaders who dare to build things out in the open for all to see and build upon. Our 2020 speaker is Brian Gerkey, chief executive officer of Open Robotics. He’ll provide an insider's view of how the present and future of the industry have been shaped by open source software like the Robot Operating System and Gazebo.

    • Command Line Heroes: What makes developers passionate about open source and where does that passion for coding come from? And how does it help them develop their careers? Attendees will hear from Saron Yitbarek, founder of CodeNewbie and host of Red Hat’s original podcast, Command Line Heroes, as she talks with journalist and author Clive Thompson about the stories he’s gathered and the lessons he’s learned by interviewing hundreds of developers for his latest book, CODERS.

  • More than 100 breakout sessions and lab demos covering many of enterprise tech’s hottest topics: Sessions will be presented by experts from Red Hat, customers, partners, and community contributors, offering attendees an opportunity to dive into the latest product innovations and hear leading practices from multiple industries. The sessions are specially designed for a virtual audience and tailored to different roles and levels of expertise and will cover a wide range of topics, including: edge; Linux containers; IT automation; hybrid cloud infrastructure; security; app development; diversity and culture; and more. Speakers will take questions from attendees via the chat room during and following their sessions.

  • 10th annual Red Hat Women’s Leadership Community Event: The Women's Leadership Community Luncheon is an opportunity for Red Hat associates, customers, partners, and open source contributors to celebrate the contributions that women make in IT, network with one another, and learn. This year we are reimagining it as a fireside chat between Saron Yitbarek and DeLisa Alexander as they discuss Saron’s career working closely with developers in the technology industry. They’ll also be joined by Red Hat’s vice president of Engineering Diversity, Denise Dumas.

  • Networking opportunities: We know that one of the biggest reasons people come to Red Hat Summit is to network and build relationships. To help keep that spirit we’ve developed several ways for attendees to talk to Red Hatters and each other during the event including: Ask the Experts sessions featuring Red Hat subject matter experts on hand to answer questions; virtual booths to house demos, collateral and connection; a variety of chat rooms divided by subject matter or audience type; and networking social hours for more casual interactions.

  • OpenShift Commons Gathering: The Virtual OpenShift Commons Gathering will take place on April 27 from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. ET. This forum will feature a discussion of best practices, lessons learned, and the open source projects that support OpenShift and Kubernetes--all from project leads with production enterprise deployments.

We hope you’ll join us for the Red Hat Summit 2020 Virtual Experience. Register now
