Attendees of Red Hat Summit looking for in-depth training on-site can add Power Training to their registration. These two-day, interactive courses provide accelerated training with expert instructors at a special rate. Attendees taking advantage of Power Training will receive access to Red Hat Training and Certification curriculum advisors; a Power Training cocktail hour and reception with Red Hat technical leaders; and a 30-day Red Hat Learning Subscription.

The following Power Training courses are being offered this year:

  • Automation with Ansible: Simplify work. Break down barriers. Speed transformation. These are the results that your team can experience when you start using Red Hat Ansible Automation. This Power Training will provide an introduction to Ansible and have you quickly writing code to automate the management and configuration of systems.

  • Advanced Ansible Best Practices: Are you ready to take Ansible automation to the next level? This Power Training course explores advanced topics in Ansible automation at scale. Common automation tasks, recommended best practices, and an introduction to Red Hat Ansible Tower will help you manage complex deployments and speed productivity.

  • Containerizing Applications with OpenShift: Boost productivity and take advantage of a platform and architecture that fosters DevOps principles. Developers should attend this Power Training to gain an understanding of containerizing applications specifically for deployment on Kubernetes using Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform.

  • Introduction to Containers, Kubernetes, and OpenShift Container Platform: Containers are critical to DevOps transformation. In this Power Training course you can build core knowledge and skills in managing containers through hands-on experience with Kubernetes and the Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform.

  • Container Security: Container-based cloud-native applications provide cost savings and increased speed to market. However, container environments have introduced new attack vectors, exploits, and vulnerabilities. During this course, infrastructure administrators and security professionals will learn how to identify and mitigate threats to OpenShift container-based infrastructure, and to implement and manage secure architecture, policies, and procedures for modern containerized application and software-defined networking.

  • Linux Security: Digital transformation demands an integrated security program.  In this Power Training session, you will learn to reduce security risk and to implement, manage, and remediate compliance and security issues on servers running Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

  • DevOps Culture and Practice Enablement: Provides an immersive experience of DevOps culture, modern software development practices and modern application development architectures. You will engage in modern practices, experience a new work culture and complete hands-on labs that deploy modern, containerized microservices featuring foundational DevOps principles and Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform.

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 Preview: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 is currently in beta testing, and brings many new changes and features to the distribution.  In this session, we will preview of some of those changes, new features, and recently released features likely to be included in the next major release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux. This course is designed for experienced Red Hat Enterprise Linux system administrators or users who have RHCE certification or equivalent skills.

Attendees can only add one Power Training course, as each course is two days in length and attendance on both days is necessary for course completion. The schedule is as follows:

  • Day 1: Monday, May 6 from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. EST

  • Day 2: Tuesday, May 7 from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. EST

In addition to the training courses, we are also offering Red Hat certification opportunities. Red Hat certifications are among the most highly regarded in the IT industry and mean you have proven your skills by passing a performance-based test of real-world tasks. The following certification exams are being offered at Red Hat Summit this year:

  • Red Hat Certified System Administrator exam (Wednesday, May 8 from 8 - 11 a.m. EST): The performance-based RHCSA exam tests your knowledge and skill in areas of system administration common across a wide range of environments and deployment scenarios. An RHCSA certification is earned when an IT professional demonstrates the core system-administration skills required in Red Hat Enterprise Linux environments.
  • Red Hat Certified Specialist in Ansible Automation exam (Wednesday, May 8 from 12:30 - 3:30 p.m. EST): The Red Hat Certified Specialist in Ansible Automation exam tests your ability to use Ansible to automate the configuration of systems and applications. By passing this exam, you become a Red Hat Certified Specialist in Ansible Automation, which also counts towards becoming a Red Hat Certified Architect (RHCA). This exam is based on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.3 and Ansible 2.3.

  • Red Hat Certified Engineer exam (Thursday, May 9  from 8 - 11 a.m. EST): An RHCE certification is earned by a Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) who has demonstrated the knowledge, skill, and ability required of a senior system administrator responsible for Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems.
