In Red Hat OpenShift 4.6, you can now customize list views by managing columns. Pods, nodes, projects, and namespaces list views can all be customized so that you have more control over the data you see on a resource page. Let's take a look at how it works.
How to Manage Columns
To get started, enter a list view and select the Manage columns icon in the toolbar:.
In the modal, you can select columns to appear in your list view or deselect columns to remove from your list view. You will notice two types of columns in the modal that you can add or remove:
- Default pod columns: Columns that appear in the list view by default.
- Additional columns: Columns that contain more resource data that could be helpful for you.
Things to Consider
As you manage your list view columns, there are a couple things to keep in mind.
- You can add up to nine columns to your list view:
- You have the option of restoring default columns, which sets the columns within the list view back to the default column set:
- The columns available for customization are dependent on whether a project has been selected or not from the project selector. When in all projects, the Name and Namespace columns will be visible and locked within the list view.
- If a project is then selected from the project selector, the Name column will be the only one locked within the list view.
- The Namespace column is hidden since it would be the same entry in every row.
Future Enhancements
In the future, we will explore adding column management to other resource pages. We may also consider enhancing the UI of the column management feature so you can drag and drop columns to reorder them.
