Today Red Hat is pleased to announce its participation in Cisco’s new RISC/UNIX Migration Program to help customers transition from UNIX to Linux IT infrastructures. Now, Cisco Unified Computing System™ (UCS) customers can migrate quickly and easily to Linux when deploying Red Hat Enterprise Linux operating system with Intel Xeon® processors. The three services offered in the program include RISC/UNIX Discovery Sessions, RISC/UNIX Migration Acceleration Services, and RISC/UNIX Migration Services.

The innovative architecture of Cisco UCS is designed to help ensure the reliability, availability, and serviceability (RAS) that RISC/UNIX customers expect. Together, Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Cisco UCS streamline the implementation of Linux-based enterprise applications and services spanning physical, virtual and cloud computing environments.

Cisco UCS and Red Hat Enterprise Linux utilize Kernel-based Virtual Machine (KVM) technology to offer hardware-accelerated virtual I/O for greater network control, visibility, and performance for virtualized applications. Overcoming the limitations of traditional virtualized environments, the cost-effective Cisco and Red Hat solution helps organizations rapidly install, manage, scale, and secure physical and virtual infrastructure.
