Red Hat Blog - OpenShift Enterprise 3 by Red Hat Wins CODiE Award for Best Platform-as-a-Service Solution

We are thrilled to share that OpenShift has received the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) CODiE Award for Best Platform-as-a-Service for the second year in a row. These consecutive CODiE award wins show how well our container application platform has been received by our peers in the software industry. Combined with other industry recognition, the award reinforces that Red Hat is helping to set the bar for cloud-native and modern application development. The OpenShift by Red Hat portfolio is the only container application platform specifically designed for Docker formatted-Linux containers. With Kubernetes orchestration capabilities at its core, OpenShift provides a consistent platform for cloud-based development or on-premise deployment enabling users to create microservices-based applications and modernize their traditional workloads - all on a platform that brings the security features of Red Hat Enterprise Linux. OpenShift has also garnered recent, significant customer wins in state government and global banking.

Amadeus innovates customer service with OpenShift Enterprise by Red Hat

Amadeus is a leading provider of innovative technology solutions for the global travel industry. To meet changing customer demand, the €4 billion company needed a new computing platform that was highly available, flexible, and tolerant to infrastructure fluctuations. Amadeus chose OpenShift Enterprise by Red Hat as the foundation for its new application infrastructure. When the project is complete, Amadeus expects the cloud solution to decrease system latency for better customer service, increase platform availability, streamline operations through automation, and reduce time to market for new services.

ComputerWeekly.com - Big data and open-source cloud technology help Gulf Air pin down customer sentiment

This summer, Gulf Air has in its enterprise IT arsenal what the carrier hopes will give it a competitive advantage over its regional rivals–something its IT director claims is the first of its kind in the world: a big data engine that performs sentiment analysis on both Arabic and English textual data. Essentially, this enables Gulf Air to find out what customers think about the airline (and its competitors) at any given moment... The airline's Arabic Sentiment Analysis (ASA) system was developed to make sense of the social media output generated by travellers... The system was built and is hosted on the airline's private cloud and an open-source software platform from Red Hat technologies... The decision to use open-source tools and platforms for this big data project came down to simple economics. Looking outside of Red Hat to Java application server options such as Oracle's WebLogic or IBM's WebSphere would have gone against Gulf Air's current drive to cut costs.
