Every year, one of the most exciting parts of Red Hat Summit is the entertainment. Two years ago, Red Hat Summit attendees watched as the Boston Red Sox took on the Baltimore Orioles at the iconic Fenway Park - president of Products and Technologies, Paul Cormier, even threw out the first pitch! Last year, we took it up a notch, attendees experienced a night of food, drinks, and music - featuring Grammy Award-winning band Weezer - at the San Francisco Armory.

As we head back to Boston for this year’s Red Hat Summit, the bar is set high so we want to pull out all the stops! To cap off a stimulating week of innovation, education and collaboration, attendees are invited to join us on May 9, 2019 at the Rockland Trust Bank Pavilion to listen to not one, but two, stellar rock bands - Neon Trees and Fitz & the Tantrums.

Neon Trees

Hailed by Rolling Stone as "a New Wave powerhouse," the Provo, UT-based Neon Trees first attracted acclaim and attention for their kaleidoscopic sound and affirmative vision, showcased on their debut album, “Habits.” The album ascended to No. 1 on Billboard's "Heatseekers Albums" chart following the breakthrough success of its lead single, "Animal." An international smash with more than 75 million streams to date, it reached the upper regions of an array of airplay and sales charts, including No. 1 on Billboard's "Alternative Songs" chart. Now certified two times platinum by the RIAA, "Animal" eventually received "Top Alternative Song" honors at the Billboard Music Awards. “Picture Show” followed two years later, highlighted by the four times platinum certified, "Everybody Talks," Neon Trees' first single to reach the top 10 on Billboard's "Hot 100," as well as their first ever No. 1 on the "Hot AC" chart. The song has been streamed more than 130 million times to date. “Pop Psychology” made a top-10 debut on the SoundScan/Billboard 200 upon its release. The album's success was driven in part by the multi-format smash single/video, "Sleeping With A Friend," now certified gold by the RIAA for sales and streams in excess of 41 million.

Fitz & the Tantrums

Fitz founded the modern pop combo Fitz and The Tantrums in 2008, driven simply by “a need to be creative and not lose my mind over a breakup.” He convened what he describes as an “amazing set of people,” – Noelle Scaggs (vocals/tambourine), James King (saxophone, flute), Jeremy Ruzumna (keyboards), Joseph Karnes (bass) and John Wicks (drums, percussion) – and quickly recorded the band’s debut EP, “Songs From A Breakup, Vol. 1,” in his Silverlake home studio. Their second full-length release and major label debut, “More Than Just A Dream” - released by Elektra Records in 2013 - “burst with danceable hooks," said The New York Times, while USA Today noted, "the Los Angeles sextet is more than ready for the big leagues."  Two singles from “More Than Just A Dream” - "The Walker" and “Out Of My League” - have both been certified Platinum with each going No. 1 on Billboard's Alternative Songs chart – a feat accomplished by only three other artists in the chart's 25-year history.

Their current album – titled Fitz and the Tantrums (Elektra) – features their biggest hit to date, “HandClap.” The RIAA-certified Double Platinum single went top five on both the Hot AC and Alternative Radio charts, and also enjoyed airplay across the country at Top 40. The official video for “HandClap” has drawn more than 75 million views on YouTube alone and the song has had more than 125 million streams. The band has performed sold out headlining shows and is a standout at music festivals around the world including Coachella, Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, Austin City Limits, Splendor in The Grass, and Pukklepop. Fitz and The Tantrums has brought the infectious energy of their live shows to the small screen, with nationally televised performances of “HandClap” on ABC’s “Dancing With The Stars,” “Good Morning America,” “Jimmy Kimmel Live!,” NBC’s “Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” “America’s Got Talent,” the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, and the syndicated “Ellen DeGeneres Show.”
