Once again, we've wrapped up another Red Hat Summit. We've been surprised and humbled by how many people have joined us online this year to learn about Red Hat's products and plans for the next year. Likewise, we want to thank all of our partners and customers who've shared their stories and successes on the journey to the open hybrid cloud, and their thoughts on the road ahead. Here's a look at some of our highlights.
From the private datacenter to the edge
Anybody who thinks open source enterprise software is boring has clearly never watched a demo with Red Hat's Burr Sutter at the helm. Sutter and team pulled together a fantastic demo that showed how Red Hat's portfolio can come together to provide an application platform for global organizations.
In real time, the team updated an application, added a Red Hat OpenShift cluster, added features, tested failover, and handled thousands of users interacting with the application. A real showcase for what edge computing and the open hybrid cloud can do. If you missed it, be sure to read our blog about the day's demos and catch the replay on demand.
We know that the concept of the datacenter is changing, and that there's been increasing demand pushing compute to the network edge. During Red Hat CTO Chris Wright's session, we had a look at how Red Hat is using AI and data, through our implementation of Open Data Hub, to help our customers based on data from connected systems.
Wright said that Red Hat processes more than 15,000 events per second, across thousands of Apache Kafka topics. Our systems hold more than 10 billion documents, with more than 100 TB of data growing at about ½ TB per day. By aggregating customer data from many OpenShift installations, Wright said, we're able to provide customers insights that they wouldn't be able to get just looking at their own infrastructure.
For more perspective from Wright, see his keynote-related post on the Red Hat blog, and be sure to catch his keynote recording on demand if you haven't already. We'll also have a demo recap on the blog coming later on Thursday.
Innovator of the Year
On Wednesday, Red Hat announced the winner of the 2020 Red Hat Innovator of the Year award, Vodafone Idea Limited.
Congratulations to the other 2020 Red Hat Innovation Awards winners, BMW Group, Edenor, Ford and the Argentine Ministry of Health and Social Development.
In case you missed any of our announcements, head over to the Red Hat Summit 2020 Newsroom where we've collected all of our Summit-related press releases and blogs.
Relax, rewind, revisit
Even though the Red Hat Summit 2020 Virtual Event has finished, we will be providing access to much of the content via the virtual platform for the next year. Whether you missed a breakout session, want to revisit the general sessions, or want to explore the Open Neighborhood, or catch a panel discussion you missed, you can continue to access them with your Summit registration from the Red Hat Summit 2020 page or link in your registration email.
Thanks again for attending, and for making Red Hat Summit a special experience. The response to our virtual event has been tremendous, and we're thankful so many of our community members, customers and partners were able to join us for this first-ever virtual Red Hat Summit.
Be sure to make plans to save the date and join us next year April 13 through April 15, when Red Hat Summit returns to Boston.
