In August 2015, we released Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform 7, bringing some of the latest innovations of OpenStack to the enterprise in a hardened, production-ready, and simple-to-deploy solution. The latest version of Red Hat's Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) offering, based on the security and reliability of the world's leading enterprise Linux platform, Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform 7 delivers a host of enhancements, including:
- A new orchestration and management tool, Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform director;
- Improved network flexibility with Neutron;
- Enhanced object and block storage functionality with integrated Red Hat Ceph Storage Server; and
- A fully supported bare-metal deployment service (Ironic).
More than just adding to the technical aspects of the platform, we have also continued working to expand the largest enterprise OpenStack partner ecosystem. With more than 350 certified OpenStack partners and thousands of independent software vendor (ISV) partners offering OpenStack compute, storage, networking, and services, this partner network offers certified solutions for Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform that complement the broad support and compatibility already provided by the extensive Red Hat Enterprise Linux ecosystem.
Continued collaboration with our strategic partners is a critical element to further the effort of accelerating OpenStack adoption in the market. One such effort is with our strategic partner Lenovo. Red Hat has extended our existing relationship with Lenovo by collaborating on OpenStack and jointly producing a reference architecture for deploying Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform on Lenovo x3650 M5 and x3550 M5 servers. You can read the full reference architecture here and a blog post providing more context on the relationship from Lenovo's point of view here.
Through this collaboration, Lenovo and Red Hat now offer strategy, planning, and a full infrastructure for next-generation private and hybrid cloud platforms. Offering one of the most cost-effective platforms for modernizing the datacenter, Lenovo and Red Hat provide end-to-end, open standards-based, and secure solutions to drive IT and business agility.
Stay tuned for more information about our relationship with Lenovo as we both seek to bring high-performance, highly-available cloud solutions to the enterprise.
