Red Hat is pleased to announce that Brian Stevens, Red Hat CTO and Vice President, Worldwide Engineering, will deliver a keynote address at LinuxCon Japan 2012 on June 6, 2012 in Yokohama, Japan. LinuxCon Japan is the premiere Linux conference in Asia that brings together a unique blend of core developers, administrators, users, community managers and industry experts. The conference is designed not only to encourage collaboration but to support future interaction between Japan and other Asia Pacific countries and the rest of the global Linux community.
In his keynote, Linux: At the Forefront, Brian will explore the many roles Linux has played in the past 20 years to create value through disruptive enterprise innovations that greatly increases the level of IT infrastructure efficiency. Considering the evolving landscape of today’s IT solutions, he will illustrate the continuation of this open source software legacy and its impact on new and future usage and business models.
Brian joined Red Hat's senior management team in 2001 and has been critical to the company's enterprise operating system, storage, and virtualization strategies. As CTO and Vice President, Worldwide Engineering, he has responsibility for Red Hat engineering globally, encompassing Linux, virtualization, middleware, and cloud.
Brian began his career at Digital Equipment Corporation, where he was a developer on the first commercial release of the X Windows System. During his 14 years at Digital, he became a senior member of technical staff, where he was responsible for the architecture and development of the UNIX and clustering product lines. He earned a master’s degree in Computer Systems from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the University of New Hampshire.
