Red Hat would like to congratulate Dr. W. Steve Albrecht, a member of Red Hat’s board of directors and chairman of its Audit Committee, for being named to the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) Directorship 100. The NACD Directorship 100 is a list of some of the most influential people in the boardroom community. 2013 honorees include directors, corporate governance experts, journalists, regulators, and advisors. Last year, Red Hat Chairman of the Board, General H. Hugh Shelton, was named among the list of 2012 honorees.
According to NACD, promoting economic growth remains a priority for policy makers and directors alike. The NACD Directorship 100 aims to recognize those who participate in and influence how board work is done. Founded in 1977, the NACD is a nonprofit membership organization for corporate board members. Their mission is to advance exemplary board leadership and empower directors to anticipate, influence, and meet boardroom challenges while effectively leading their organizations.
Albrecht, who previously served on Red Hat's board from April 2003 through June 2009, is the Andersen Alumni Professor of Accounting at the Marriott School of Management at Brigham Young University (BYU), and served as Associate Dean of the Marriott School until July 2008. Albrecht, a certified public accountant, certified internal auditor, and certified fraud examiner, joined BYU in 1977 after teaching at Stanford University and the University of Illinois. Prior to becoming a professor, he worked as an accountant for Deloitte & Touche. Albrecht currently serves on the board of directors of Cypress Semiconductor Corporation and SkyWest, Inc., the holding company of SkyWest Airlines. He is the past president of the American Accounting Association and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners and is a former trustee of the Financial Accounting Foundation that oversees the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) and the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB).
Congratulations Red Hat director, Steve Albrecht, on this prestigious honor!
