For the last nine years, Red Hat associates have been an active part of selecting a worthy charitable organization to be the beneficiary of our holiday U.S. corporate donation. This year, they nominated nearly 70 charities and more than 1,000 associates participated in the final vote. For our 2016 corporate holiday donation, Red Hatters have chosen to support Doctors Without Borders with a $75,000 donation that will contribute to the organization's efforts to provide rapid and targeted medical care where it is needed most.
Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières provides emergency medical care to millions of people each year experiencing crises in more than 60 countries around the world. Doctors Without Borders offers assistance when catastrophic events — such as armed conflict, epidemics, malnutrition, or natural disasters — overwhelm local health systems.
Our corporate donation to Doctors Without Borders represents only one of the ways Red Hat and our associates participate in significant charitable work throughout the year. In addition to supporting many non-profit organizations with donations and volunteer activities, Red Hat matches the qualifying contributions our U.S. associates make to eligible charities through our ongoing matching gifts program.
