Red Hat Satellite 6
In September 2014, Red Hat launched Red Hat Satellite 6, the next generation of Red Hat systems management. Satellite maintains the functionality for systems management that customers expect for comprehensive lifecycle management and adds significantly advanced features including refined system definition archetypes and fine-grained management of Standard Operating Environments, update, and configuration. Satellite 6 also features dramatically improved configuration and provisioning with recipe-based tooling supplied by Puppet and the deployment technologies supplied by The Foreman open source project.
We encourage all Red Hat Satellite 5 customers to upgrade at their earliest convenience to Red Hat Satellite 5.7 , or download and explore the newest Red Hat Satellite 6. We have streamlined the transition to Red Hat Satellite 6 with a process that is more straightforward and enables users to explore the two platforms side by side.
