When MyRepublic decided to overhaul its legacy IT architecture, it went all out for open source. The internet service provider (ISP), based in Singapore, chose Red Hat OpenStack Platform for its Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), along with several other Red Hat solutions.  Now, the ISP's IT architecture is more flexible and scalable. Thanks to the simpler, automated deployment, it also can deliver new services more quickly and generate more business. And it reduced hardware costs by 30% and cut year-on-year TCO by double-digit percentages. You can read more about MyRepublic's use of Red Hat solutions in its new cloud-based platform in this case study, and hear about the implementation in this video.

In addition to MyRepbublic's choice of Red Hat OpenStack Platform, it also has implemented Red Hat Ceph Storage, a block and object storage platform capable of scaling to meet MyRepublic's requirements, and Red Hat CloudForms, a hybrid cloud management platform. Red Hat Consulting supported the initial planning and implementation stages, making it possible to complete the deployment in only two weeks.

"We had a choice between proprietary and open source private cloud solutions," Eugene Yeo, group CIO at MyRepublic, said in the case study. "Open source would help us avoid vendor lock-in. We chose Red Hat primarily because they are very close to upstream development, giving us access to new features quickly."

MyRepublic is just one of many telecommunications companies moving toward open source and joining the ranks of Red Hat customers. Check out more of our customers' stories, and contact us to learn more about how Red Hat can put open source to work for you.
