In a recent blog post, we talked about why many people are choosing to use cloud services instead of self-managed infrastructure. According to a recent report, 68% of organizations are deploying application services in cloud environments.1 Using cloud services, including application and data services, helps teams focus on the work that’s most important to them while trusted experts manage the infrastructure. Using Red Hat OpenShift cloud services―including application and data services like Red Hat OpenShift Streams for Apache Kafka, Red Hat OpenShift API Management and Red Hat OpenShift Data Science―helps organizations shorten development cycles. And switching to Red Hat OpenShift cloud services has been shown to improve operational efficiency by 50%.2 (Not sure what cloud services are? Read our “What are cloud services?” article.)

Let’s take a look at what you can do with application services, data services and hosted tools in the Red Hat Hybrid Cloud Console—which offers a comprehensive portfolio of hosted services and applications that let teams build, deploy and optimize workloads across the hybrid cloud—and how these services and tools can benefit your organization.

The Red Hat Hybrid Cloud Console: your path to the hybrid cloud

Logging in to the Red Hat Hybrid Cloud Console gives teams working in hybrid environments the hosted services and tools they need to more efficiently deliver connected applications across public and private clouds.

What you can do in the console

  • Access select cloud services, application services, data services and hosted and managed tools from Red Hat to help you build cloud-native applications efficiently.

  • Discover and provision Red Hat products for building and installing Linux operating systems.

  • Automate your IT infrastructure and code deployment.

  • Monitor your current Red Hat implementations and software stack.

  • Start developing applications right away with ready-to-use hosted services and a comprehensive application development platform.

The benefits of developing applications with support from the Red Hat Hybrid Cloud Console

Application and data services available in the Red Hat Hybrid Cloud Console come with the support of a site reliability engineering (SRE) team that will automate the deployment and management of your platform and supported tools―including those for observability, performance, scalability and cost optimization―as well as integrated upgrades and patches. While the SRE team manages your infrastructure, you can spend more time in the console with our services that help you develop and deploy applications. Actions you can take include:

Hosted services and tools to help manage your infrastructure

The majority of Red Hat’s cloud services offerings in the Red Hat Hybrid Cloud Console comprise application and data services, which help speed the development and delivery of cloud-native applications and reduce the operational cost and complexity of delivering those applications by providing an SRE team to manage the infrastructure for you. However, if you choose to manage your own infrastructure, the console offers additional hosted services and tools to help you:

Red Hat OpenShift Cluster Manager: Create, register and manage Red Hat OpenShift clusters across various supported environments. Once deployed, OpenShift Cluster Manager also displays high-level cluster information in a single dashboard for Red Hat OpenShift products. Registering and entitling clusters to Red Hat subscription services is handled automatically.

Tools for Red Hat Enterprise Linux: Secure and stabilize the business-critical applications you scale from your Red Hat Enterprise Linux platform:

  • Get system-level visibility into how Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems are built and configured to comply with security and business policies.

  • Assemble and customize Red Hat Enterprise Linux images to quickly create new system images for different platforms.

  • Use Red Hat Enterprise Linux to scale your edge computing infrastructure.

  • See an account-level view of subscription use over time.

Tools for Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform: Delegate resources and automate faster with Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform in the console. There, you get access to a visual dashboard, role-based access control and automation tools, including analytics and certified, reusable content. The console provides aggregated health monitoring and analytics, a private catalog and unique access to playbooks and collections that are tested and supported by both Red Hat and our partners—all while applying policy and governance to these resources.

Tools for Red Hat Insights: With Red Hat Insights, you can continuously analyze platforms and applications from the console to better manage your hybrid cloud environments:

  • Reduce support tickets and downtime by using rule-based analytical models to identify and prioritize trouble areas.

  • Predict risk and recommend actions by identifying and prioritizing vulnerabilities.

  • Make more informed financial decisions by tracking, metering and charting operating costs and subscription use across deployment environments.

How to use the Red Hat Hybrid Cloud Console

The Red Hat Hybrid Cloud site serves as the centerpiece for Red Hat’s cloud-hosted products and a portal into the Red Hat Hybrid Cloud Console, giving you the context to find the Red Hat products and services that best suit your business. In addition to offering learning paths and other educational content to help you understand how to use our products, Red Hat Hybrid Cloud lets you preview content that was previously only accessible by creating an account and logging in to the console.

If you’re not familiar with the console and aren’t sure where to begin, check out the Getting started page on the Red Hat Hybrid Cloud site. Here, you’ll find an assortment of clickable tasks you can accomplish in the console (and a few you can accomplish from other Red Hat sites), from creating a Red Hat OpenShift cluster to getting certified automation content. You can also explore actions you can take using specific Red Hat products.

The new Red Hat Hybrid Cloud learning hub is another path into the console via learning paths for developers and IT operations professionals. These online guides provide step-by-step instructions to complete your top jobs using Red Hat products and solutions. While many of the learning paths offer entry points into the console, the entirety of each learning path is accessible on Red Hat sites that don’t require a login: The versions for operations teams are available on the Red Hat Hybrid Cloud site, and the learning paths for developers are on the Red Hat Developer site. You can also find links to Red Hat’s training and certification materials and the Red Hat Hybrid Cloud blog on the learning hub.

Whether you log in to the console by entering the site directly or are guided in from the Red Hat Hybrid Cloud site, you’ll be prompted to create a Red Hat account to access the content in the console. If you already have an account, you’ll be asked to sign in each time you visit the console. By creating an account and logging in to the console, you help us learn about your specific needs so we can customize your experience.
