Help DevOps innovate Faster
from the Inside Out
with OpenShift
Businesses depend on IT to drive innovation in the digital economy. We know how important it is for you to eliminate unnecessary downtime that often occurs between coding and deployment of applications, so you can deliver the improvements business demands in weeks or even days, rather than months.
The key to faster innovation lies in enabling people, processes and technology to work seamlessly together. This means accelerating application development and increasing operational efficiencies. But more importantly, enabling collaboration between the application development and IT operations teams to expedite innovation and time-to-market.
Red Hat’s OpenShift solution empowers both application development and IT operations teams to innovate faster. Developers will be able to deliver high quality software quicker, while operations teams can focus on setting up reliable, standardized and secure runtime environments.
How? With an open source self-service platform that supports multiple languages and automates application provisioning and management.

Shaping the future of travel
Challenge
Despite the ability to process 30,000 end-user transactions per second via its datacenter, Amadeus, a leading provider of advanced technology for the global travel industry, needed a new solution that could enable customers to run travel applications on-site locally or through the cloud – private, public or hybrid.
Solution
To meet the demands from more than 12,000 infrastructure devices, Amadeus chose Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform to create and run a private cloud-based application designed to meet specific customer demands. They also built the Amadeus Cloud Services solution to serve its customers within the travel industry.
Results
OpenShift Container Platform’s scaling and automation capabilities enabled Amadeus to meet the specific demands from a wider variety of customers. When fully deployed, they also expect the Amadeus Cloud Services to further streamline operations through automation, and reduce time-to-market for new services.

Quicker app development, faster time-to-market
Challenge
To anticipate and quickly meet customer demands, Cisco needed to change the way it supported internal developers so as to accelerate development and support a new “Fast IT” model for the company.
Solution
To meet the demanding requirements, Cisco partnered Red Hat to build its Lightweight Application Environment (LAE). Running on OpenShift Container Platform, it supported hundreds of applications that powered a variety of business functions, and gave developers on-demand access to the infrastructure, operating system, middleware and system functions to develop applications without any manual provisioning.
Results
The new LAE platform has become a catalyst for innovation and progress, enabling Developers at Cisco to get what they need when they need it. It has reduced time-to-market, streamlined infrastructure using containers and increased operational efficiencies.

The search for a one-size-fits-all solution
Challenge
As a leading data analytics software provider, FICO wanted to expand their business by diversifying into new markets.
Solution
Through the FICO Analytic Cloud, an on-demand, online platform, organizations of all sizes can build their own analytic applications in the cloud using FICO software and tools. This enables FICO to serve the middle market better and extend their offerings to different industries. FICO built the Analytic Cloud using Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform and support in the form of Red Hat Consulting.
Results
Through the Analytic Cloud, FICO has reduced time to value for developing analytic solutions by up to 70% versus on-premise software. FICO’s own developers can also quickly create scalable applications in the PaaS environment, with their choice of programming languages and middleware.

Turning wastage into staff and student welfare
Challenge
The IT department of UTS was experiencing service bottlenecks and wasted resources in the three areas: sub-par student experiences, virtual machines and legacy data.
Solution
Through deploying Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform, UTS addressed environment provisioning issues, reduced the cost of legacy applications and tackled infrastructure management issues associated with servicing the needs of up to 1,000 software engineering students at a time.
Results
UTS’ IT staff no longer have to manage the entire provisioning process as they only need to provide logins now for users to self-service. The university has also achieved significant cost savings by eliminating wastage from hosting applications on separate machines even if they did not require a full machine’s worth of power, as many applications can now share the same compartmentalized infrastructure.
