Developing automation strategy and implementing an infra code approach with Red Hat Ansible automation platform

Nicholas Chia, Senior Principal Product Marketing Manager, Red Hat,

Many large-scale enterprises have begun to adopt Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform at some level. In some cases, the usage is ad hoc at the lab level. In others, Ansible automation has been institutionalized across the whole IT ecosystem. As enterprises try to make the jump from ad hoc to widespread use of Ansible automation, they often stumble and don’t fully realize their automation goals. We visit some of the most common reasons for failed adoption and how to mitigate the risk of failure. In this session, we'll discuss the considerations when deploying an enterprise automation strategy and show how a Bell network business unit implemented one of the core practices, infrastructure as code, to build a Unified GitLab to enable collaboration and code reuse across the developer community. Using Ansible and other tools, the Bell Smart Core Practices and Tools team has built a platform capable of supporting thousands of developer workloads with the added capability of scaling specific components at the click of a button to adapt to changing capacity requirements. A prime example of code reuse enabled by the Unified Gitlab is around sharing existing Ansible roles and recipes that are fed to our Ansible Tower platform which has scaled out and has run over 3 million jobs in 2020, representing labor savings of 14 person-years.

How financial institutions delivers customer centricity with cloud native business automation

Vincent Caldeira, Chief FSI Technologist, Red Hat,

As financial organizations seek to improve digital customer experience and build an increasingly customer-centric organization, process reengineering or improvement is critical for those organizations that aim at implementing increased automation, lower cost, increased customer service and enhanced regulatory compliance. However in this journey financial organizations have to face two main challenges: the weight of legacy architectures in the form of product-centric, rigid and siloed systems where customer data is held captive, and existing processes which mostly are internally focused and reflect the organization structure of outdated business models. In this session, we will show how cloud native business automation technologies can be leveraged as part of a composable architecture to coordinate and integrate legacy components into customer-centric processes, and help to maintain the integrity of process definitions as digital channels go through this dramatic shift in business model.

Data Engineering and Analytics for AI/ML: Developing a prediction model for digital banking customer churn

Tom Corcoran, Associate Principal Solution Architect, Red Hat

Faisal Masood, Principal Architect and AI Lead, Red Hat,

As studies have shown that long-term, digitally engaged banking customers are more profitable customers, it is essential for financial organizations to understand and manage customer retention pro-actively. However developing a prediction model for customer churn typically involves complex discovery of knowledge from a huge amount of data distributed across systems of records and various online channels. As a result, data science teams can spend up to 70% of their time acquiring, loading and transforming the data before the machine learning process starts. Using Jupyter, Spark, Trino and Superset, running on Kubernetes, we'll show you the ease of achieving ultra high speed access and discovery of large-scale data, including streaming data from Kafka, preparing and transforming it to a state that will be consumable by AI/ML models.
