What is Open Innovation Labs?
Your partner in community-powered innovation
Candidates for Red Hat Open Innovation Labs are teams of developers, system administrators, and IT managers who are flexible, creative, and open-minded. They’re willing to solve problems in new and innovative ways. Ideal candidates are ones with the influence to share these solutions with the rest of your organization through mentoring and collaboration.
Red Hat Open Innovation Labs experts are comprised of teams from Red Hat Consulting, engineering, business units, and Global Support Services.
Red Hat Open Innovation Labs can help your team understand the open source approach to development, agile workflows, and how these combine with open source tools to define a DevOps strategy.
This includes an open source infrastructure optimized for rapid application development and an agile methodology ideal for continuous integration and continuous delivery. At the end of your residency, your team will have completed an application or app feature prototype—either modernizing an existing application or developing a new one. When they return home, they’ll be equipped to share this knowledge with their peers and help spread it throughout your organization.
Open Innovation Labs are located in Mountain View, Boston, London, and anywhere you want. Come to us or we’ll bring the Labs to you.
At Red Hat, when we talk about "open source," we're talking about a proven way of collaborating to create technology. The freedom to see the code, to learn from it, to ask questions and offer improvements: This is the open source way.
Open Innovation Labs' agile approach is focused on rapid iteration, regular prioritization, and continuous delivery through automation and cross-team collaboration. Teams focus on delivering value in hours, not weeks, by adopting a mature DevOps strategy.
At Open Innovation Labs, open source tools and automation form the foundation of our push-button enterprise infrastructure. Built on containers—powered by Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform and automated with Ansible by Red Hat— our stack can be deployed in less than an hour, allowing you to get started immediately.
Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) offers many benefits across IT organizations. Developers gain the freedom to focus on coding, while IT operations maintains control without having to manage tickets or spin up environments.
Containers affect tools, groups, and processes across infrastructure, DevOps, and application development—and each must be addressed in parallel to ensure secure, successful adoption.
An organization must clearly define goals and strategy, establish better communication, and move to a disciplined and well-understood distributed architecture.
DevOps is an approach to process, culture, and tools for delivering increased business value and responsiveness through rapid, iterative, and high-quality IT service delivery. Red Hat has investments within every part of the open source software stack associated with DevOps and knows how to harness the open source model to the advantage of organizations with the most demanding enterprise IT requirements.
