How the shared services strategy is bridging the gap between business managers and IT shops


There is often a disconnect when IT developers and business managers discuss new projects. On the one hand, developers want funding for the cool new toy that will make their lives easier and give them more modern development capabilities. On the other, it’s the job of the business manager to decide whether this product and its modern development capabilities are necessary for mission success. Business managers use words like bottom line, efficiency, and productivity. Developers speak in terms of platforms, interoperability, and capabilities. In a manner of speaking, business managers and developers often don’t speak the same language.
