Check that your hardware meets all system requirements.

Network connection

A public network connection will be required to register, download, and install software..

Installer image

Download the ISO image.

A bootable disk

Burn the ISO image to a DVD or create bootable USB media.

Installation steps for Red Hat Virtualization 4

Follow these instructions for a self-hosted engine installation

Install the latest Red Hat Virtualization host as the deployment host

Boot from the Red Hat Virtualization host ISO image media and install the operating system. This media can be used to add additional hosts (hypervisors) later..

Register the host with Red Hat Subscription Management and enable the Red Hat Virtualization host repository. For more detailed instructions, read this documentation on enabling the Red Hat Virtualization host repository.

Prepare storage

Set up storage to use during the installation. For more detailed instructions, read this documentation on preparing storage for Red Hat Virtualization.

Deploy and configure the self-hosted engine

Run the installation on the deployment host. The manager is created on a Red Hat Enterprise Linux virtual machine. For more detailed instructions, read this documentation on deploying the self-hosted engine using Cockpit.

Register the managing virtual machine. For more detailed instructions, read this documentation on enabling the Red Hat Virtualization manager repositories.

When the installation process completes, click "Reboot" to restart the system.

Boot from the Red Hat Virtualization hypervisor ISO image media and install the operating system.

Register the hosts. For more detailed instructions, read this documentation on enabling the Red Hat Virtualization host repository.

Configure the system

Connect—using a web browser—to the administration portal using the URL specified during the manager configuration.

Configure data centers, storage, clusters, networking, and additional hosts. For more detailed instructions, read the administration guide.

Upload ISO images to a storage domain. For more detailed instructions, read this documentation on uploading images to a data storage domain.
