Today’s announcement is made in conjunction with the SC11 supercomputing conference in Seattle, WA, Nov. 12 – 18 (Red Hat booth #2423/SGI booth #1841).
This certification highlights the benefits of the newest generation of Intel® processors and SGI’s high performance computing technology for customers with data-intensive workloads requiring outstanding performance in a high-density form factor with excellent power efficiency. Targeting the high-end supercomputing, large-scale database and data analytic environments, the combination of Red Hat Enterprise Linux and SGI® UV 1000 paves the way for customers in the government, intelligence, and scientific communities to deliver more meaningful scientific and technical results. Through the Red Hat Hardware Certification Program, the SGI UV 1000 server with 1,280 cores and 8TB of memory is now certified to run on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6. In addition to validating compatibility, Red Hat hardware certification gives customers the confidence that this SGI server configuration is fully supported by Red Hat when running with Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
