Tech Pro Research - Digital transformation, the Red Hat way

For CIOs, keeping up with trends in enterprise IT is a never-ending process of absorbing new concepts and buzzwords, working out their potential relevance to their particular organisations, and then implementing them as required. ... The broad goals here are to modernise legacy apps (to create cost savings), and develop new agile workloads (to implement innovative business initiatives). ... And how about Red Hat's customers? [Says Tim Yeaton, senior VP of Red Hat's infrastructure business,] "The customers that we have the best relationships with often are the ones that come to us and say: 'this is kind of us a little bit'. They know they've got to react, but they're not entirely sure what to change first. In most companies, the hardest part is, you've got to get your development organisation to agile, and that typically means cultural shifts in the whole IT organisation—policy and process changes—before you start investing in the technology."

Together with Red Hat's existing SaaS-based mobile app platform, enterprises now have a wider set of deployment options to integrate, manage, and scale their mobile app initiatives to meet their business objectives. The move to a fully containerized platform, Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform, based on docker-format containers and Kubernetes, is part of Red Hat's strategy to provide a single, integrated platform for modern application development that is cloud native, mobile-centric, microservices-based, and API-driven. ... Deployment of Red Hat Mobile Application Platform on OpenShift provides a common platform to support mobile workloads running alongside traditional enterprise applications that need to be moved to the cloud.
