Every year FedScoop, a government IT media company, recognizes and honors the achievements of 50 of the federal IT community's brightest minds and innovators. We are pleased to announce that this year Paul Smith, general manager and vice president of Red Hat's Public Sector team was selected and honored as one of the FedScoop 50.

FedScoop selected finalists for each of its categories, including Golden Gov: Federal Executive of the Year, Federal Leadership Award, Federal Innovation of the Year, Fed IT Program of the Year, FedMentor of the Year, Government Up and Comer, Industry Leadership, Most Inspiring Newcomer to Watch and Tech Champion of the Year. Winners were selected after public voting over a four-week period and announced during a celebration the evening of November 21.

Paul joined Red Hat in November 2004 and leads the Red Hat Government business unit with responsibility for sales, marketing, consulting, channels and strategic planning. The business unit is responsible for the U.S. Federal government worldwide and the U.S. State, Local and Education marketplace nationally.

The Industry Leadership Award, for which Paul was nominated and won, recognizes individuals in the private sector driving change in government IT with unique solutions. Other winners in this category include executive leadership from Symantec, NetApp, McAfee and AT&T Federal. Paul also joins Gunnar Hellekson, Red Hat’s U.S. Public Sector chief technology strategist, who won a FedScoop 50 award in 2012.

Congratulations, Paul!
