PaaS can help you go digital

A recent report by Bain & Company and Red Hat shows “companies that have made the most strides in digital outperform their rivals.” (More on the survey later.) By shifting their technologies and cultures, digital businesses are more responsive, flexible, and innovative.

To go digital, your business needs to adopt new cloud-native applications and services and an iterative DevOps approach—which requires strong support for developers and operations teams. Both groups make digital transformation possible, but they have different, often conflicting needs. By integrating and simplifying the use of open source projects like Kubernetes, Docker-format containers, and Linux®, Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) decouples developers and ops, letting each do what they’re good at without holding the other back.

If early PaaS offerings didn’t meet your needs, take a look at the ones based on new technologies, like Kubernetes and containers. PaaS technology has evolved alongside other IT changes. A PaaS (or container platform) not only gives developers new capabilities, it helps ops teams better support developers. If you’re using or considering a DevOps approach, check out what the new generation of container platform solutions has to offer.

Survey says

Digitally mature vs. traditional companies: Who’s faring better?

  • 8x is how much more likely digitally mature companies are to gain market share than the least digitally mature companies.
  • 3x is how much faster digitally mature companies deliver better products.
  • 100% of the top 15% most digitally mature companies say their IT architecture is agile, adaptable, and scalable.
  • 65% of respondents say the main motivation for their digital efforts is reacting to their competitors.
