EAP 7 - Re-imagine your Java applications to benefit from DevOps, microservices, cloud and containers
James Falkner, Senior Principal Product Marketing Manager, Red Hat
You want to evolve your application development strategies to benefit from DevOps processes, cloud and container platforms, and microservices architectures. Newly released Red Hat® JBoss® Enterprise Application Platform (JBoss EAP) 7 allows you to re-imagine your Java applications and take full advantage of these new application approaches. Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform helps you move these modern applications to the cloud.
In this session, you'll get an overview of JBoss EAP’s new features and enhancements, which have been optimized for web-scale performance in cloud and containers.
You'll also learn:
- Trends and priorities in application development today.
- What’s new with JBoss EAP 7.

Many paths to Infrastructure Modernization
Mark Coggin, Sr. Director, Platform and Solutions, Red Hat
Traditional IT infrastructures are typically saddled with a heavy burden of technical debt. These past-generation technologies require substantial maintenance and management, lengthy deployment cycles and specialized skills making it costly and difficult to keep your infrastructure operational. But despite these drawbacks, your organization has deep investments in traditional systems.
Learn how to unload your technical debt, decrease OpEx, and standardize your infrastructure and the core set of skills so that your IT organization can scale to deliver cloud-like services across multiple physical, virtual, and cloud environments with visibility and control.

BMP - Red Hat JBoss BPM Suite and BRMS Primer - Capabilities, Vision and Roadmap
Phil Simpson, and Prakash Aradhya
Over the last few years, business process management (BPM) solutions have seen rapid adoption across the enterprise. Businesses are recognizing the value of BPM to improve the efficiency and agility of business operations, and thereby competitiveness and the bottom line. Earlier this year, Red Hat released the latest update to its BPM platform, Red Hat JBoss BPM Suite 6.3. A comprehensive platform for business automation, JBoss BPM Suite incorporates four key technologies–business process management, business rules, complex event processing, and business resource planning. Combined, these enable IT and business experts to automate and optimize a wide range of processes spanning desktop applications, legacy systems, and mobile devices. Join this session where we'll highlight the capabilities, vision, and roadmap for JBoss BPM Suite and Red Hat JBoss BRMS. We'll discuss and demonstrate key features of the new product, including:
- New containerized BPM tools and services hosted on OpenShift by Red Hat
- New intuitive user experience based on the PatternFly design model
- Dynamic and ad hoc process development for case management scenarios
- Graphical dashboards for business activity monitoring
You'll gain a solid understanding of the capabilities and direction of the product and will be ready to use the free developer subscription to evaluate it for your own needs.

The Roadmap for Containers & DevOps
Brian Gracely, Director of Product Strategy,
Diogenes Rettori, Principal Product Manager
Linux Containers continue to grow in popularity and are at the center of a number of emerging trends in IT. Organizations are using Containers to accelerate DevOps processes, to deploy both existing apps and cloud-native microservices, and to enable a hybrid cloud infrastructure. This session will explore Red Hat’s roadmap for Containers, how it enables these trends and how we are delivering new Container innovations through OpenShift, RHEL and across our product portfolio.
2:30pm-3:15pm
MAD for Mobile: Achieve Mobile Zen through Agile, DevOps, and Microservices
Chad Holmes, Senior Solution Architect, Mobile, Red Hat
The changing needs of a modern software development team can be daunting at first glance. There's often hesitation within organizations to move from familiar, traditional software development methods to a more agile working environment. There are often misconceptions: DevOps means redundancies, microservices is just SOA, right? It doesn't have to be that way, and embracing mobile can help change the entire mindset of software development across an organization. In this session, you'll learn about the concept of a Mobile Center of Excellence (CoE). We'll share a business case for establishing one. We'll introduce some new CoE concepts that developers, architects, and IT managers alike need to become familiar with to achieve this state of zen.
