Last week, Red Hat began celebrating its 20th anniversary, as not only a successful company, but also as an innovation leader. Once thought of for the hobbyist community only, open source is now mainstream.  Red Hat believed in open source when others didn’t and continues to nourish, celebrate and grow its open source roots as well as the power it adds to innovation. Red Hat believes that “innovation happens” and will continue to happen through knowledge sharing and corporations, IT professionals and technologists working together as a unified community.

This message was made loud and clear at Red Hat Summit 2013 in Boston, June 11-14.  Around 3,500 attendees were on site for four days of connections and content focused on some of the IT world’s hottest topics, including open hybrid cloud, Big Data, OpenStack, application development and application and platform infrastructure. During the event, Red Hat shared its OpenStack-powered product offering for open hybrid cloud, its Red Hat Storage integration with Red Hat OpenStack and its fully-supported public PaaS offering, OpenShift Online.

Several Red Hat customers were recognized as Red Hat Innovation Award Winners during the award ceremony for the 7th Annual Red Hat Innovation Awards. With more than 160 sessions and visionary keynotes from Red Hat’s Jim Whitehurst, Paul Cormier and Brian Stevens as well as Red Hat partners IBM, Cisco and more, the event was filled with a number of remarkable moments.

Next year, Red Hat Summit will take place in San Francisco, April 14-17, 2014 at the Moscone Center. Please mark your calendars and join us for what will be the tenth annual Red Hat Summit.

From everyone at Red Hat, a sincere thank you to all of our communities, partners and customers for helping us reach such an important milestone as a company and helping make Red Hat Summit 2013 a great success.
