Corporate citizenship and giving back to the communities where we work, live and play is a long-standing priority for Red Hatters. The Red Hat Summit and JBoss World is one of the largest gatherings of Red Hat’s extended ecosystem and is a great venue for attendees to come together and give back to great causes. We’re excited to support volunteer opportunities at the 2012 Red Hat Summit and JBoss World on June 26-29, 2012 in Boston at the Hynes Convention Center.

We are pleased to announce the following volunteer opportunities:

Stop Hunger Now
Wednesday, June 27, 2012
10 am - 6 pm

Our first volunteer opportunity is supporting Stop Hunger Now, an International Hunger Relief Organization that coordinates the distribution of food to the world's most vulnerable. They have a vision of a world without hunger and a mission to end hunger in our lifetime. The packages created by volunteers are used in crisis situations and in school feeding programs and orphanages in developing countries around the world. During the Red Hat Summit and JBoss World, attendees will have the opportunity to help assemble 50,000 packages of dehydrated, high protein, highly nutritious meals for Stop Hunger Now.

Boston Homeless Shelters
Thursday, June 28, 2012
10 am - 6 pm

Red Hat will support homeless shelters in the Boston area by creating packages to address basic needs. Attendees will have the opportunity to help create 1,000 hygiene packs, 1,000 snack packs, and 200 ‘Project Night Night’ packages for young children. Project Night Night packages provide homeless children from birth to pre-teen ages with essentials to feel secure, cozy, ready to learn, and significant. Each package contains a new security blanket, an age-appropriate book, and a stuffed animal nestled inside of a new canvas tote bag.

We hope to see you at the 2012 Red Hat Summit and JBoss World (register here) and look forward to joining together to supporting great causes during the event!
