Industry experts agree that traditional enterprise storage is rapidly giving way to server-based storage which offers customers better elasticity and choice of deployment. Research shows the powerful dynamics in the enterprise storage industry leading to an inflection point in the near future where monolithic storage appliances are expected to be the less preferred option for customers gearing up for the next wave of cloud-native and web scale workloads.

Already we are seeing a number of customers who have instituted a procurement process where any purchases of traditional storage appliances flag an exception. Software-defined storage is no more the exception. It’s the rule.

Storage for and in containers.

One of the reasons Red Hat Gluster Storage (part of Red Hat’s software-defined storage portfolio) has shown both customer and community momentum over the past 18 months is its ability to offer container-native storage. Storage not just for containers, but storage deployed inside of containers.

Containerizing the storage platform, and deeply integrating with Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform, enables developers to manage storage just as easily as they would applications, without being storage experts. Today’s new release of Red Hat Gluster Storage 3.2 advances the integration with Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform to enable container registries to be persisted and scaled easily, adding unique value for customers looking for persistent storage for containers.

Green Storage.

A new innovation available in this release is the ability to shrink the hardware footprint of the storage solution while maintaining the data integrity and durability required by the most demanding workloads. This is particularly beneficial to hyperconverged use cases such as remote or branch offices where datacenter space is at a premium and power costs are a large fraction of the IT budget. Hyperconverged storage configurations can also benefit from the faster and granular self healing capabilities in this release. Red Hat Gluster Storage 3.2 can not only help customers save green but also go green.

Learn more. Meet the experts.

This release of Red Hat Gluster Storage includes a number of notable innovations designed to improve performance, durability, and efficiency, making it a flexible scale-out storage platform available in containers, virtual machines, and all three major public clouds. You can find more details on the Red Hat Storage blog.

We welcome you to join our launch event at 12 p.m. EDT today where you can interact with Red Hat experts, customers, partners, and even contributors from the GlusterFS open source community. We hope to see you there.
