We’re proud to share that Red Hat has been included on Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For 2022, produced by Great Places to Work and published by Fortune, for the fourth consecutive year. Red Hat is ranked No. 34.

While we’re thrilled by this consistent achievement, we would be remiss not to mention that what makes an organization a “great place to work” has changed drastically over the last two years. As a company and as individuals, we’ve had to adjust virtually every norm, both professionally and personally, while remaining present for our customers, teams and families. To our Red Hatters, thank you for your commitment to our vision and for supporting each other. Because of you, Red Hat is truly a great place to work!

An open and transparent culture

At our core, Red Hat embraces a culture of openness. Key attributes, such as transparency, communication and flexibility have always been a priority. With the challenges of COVID-19, we have embraced even more flexibility in areas such as working style, hours and location. In addition to our normal PTO allotment and end-of-year shutdown, we implemented Red Hat Recharge Days, giving Red Hatters an extra day each quarter to truly unplug.

Additionally, we recognize that it’s important for Red Hatters to not only fulfill our organizational needs but to dedicate their time and talent to support their communities. Red Hat Impact was launched in 2020, and over the past two years, associates have donated more than 9,000 hours of their time to socially impactful initiatives. We provide Red Hatters with two paid volunteer days, continuing our commitment to keep creating opportunities to make a positive impact in the world.

As we venture into our new normal with the hope of a more open world, Red Hat has implemented work profiles that allow associates to choose their desired status of remote worker, in-office or flex. This gives our associates autonomy to make the best decisions for their safety, health and productivity.

Commitment to growth

Red Hat has continued to expand our workforce, now employing more than 20,000 associates. It’s our vision for Red Hat to be a place where all Red Hatters feel included, aligned to the business and safe to be their authentic selves.

We also rolled out several new initiatives to address pay equity. These include salary adjustments, access to data through a dashboard that provides visibility into the average pay of all associates, and manager training to equip Red Hat leaders to understand general pay equity concepts and feel empowered to have open conversations with their associates.

While we are proud of our work 2021, this is not a one-time fix. We are committed to the continued work of expanding these initiatives and implementing new ones so Red Hat can truly be a safe and inclusive workplace.

Looking to the future

A common theme discussed in many of our company meetings is that change, while daunting, brings the potential to evolve into something even greater. While adjusting to changes in light of the pandemic has had its challenges, this year’s award is a testament to the open source culture that has endured, guiding Red Hat to success through every transformation.

Thank you again to all our associates for making Red Hat a great place to work!
