We are pleased to announce the Beta 3 release of Red Hat Virtualization 4.2, the latest version of our Red Hat Virtualization platform. This follows the release of the Beta 2 on February 16 of this year, as we push closer to the public release of Red Hat Virtualization 4.2 in May.
While many of the new features were highlighted in the previous announcements in January and February, it is worth noting the addition of some additional new features to this beta release.
We would like to invite the Red Hat Virtualization and open source communities to test these new features:
Metrics Store and Logging – The Metrics Store gathers information (metrics and logs) from Red Hat Virtualization and then sends it to OpenShift. Elasticsearch then stores the data and can then be analyzed and visualized with Kibana. Kibana allows analyzing the data to quickly address critical issues, track utilization, and even plan for future growth. The logging is provided by OpenShift Aggregated Logging.
RHEL 7.5 support - The RHV 4.2 Beta 3 (and upcoming RHV 4.2 release) will utilize and require Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.5 which was released on April 10.
Download/Upload VM (as OVF to a named path) - This new feature allows administrators to export virtual machines as named OVF/OVA files and save them to a specific path on a host or mounted NFS shared storage.
Support of 400 hosts - The previous support limit of 200 hosts (hypervisors) per Red Hat Virtualization Manager has been officially increased to 400.
New CPUs Supported - RHV 4.2 Beta 3 adds support for the AMD Epyc and Intel Skylake-Server processors.
