Abstract: Back in the States, we're all preparing for Thanksgiving and cooking a turkey takes planning and time. Another thing that takes planning and time is upgrading a single OpenStack deployment through three releases of OpenStack with minimal/no impact to downtime.
In order to optimize the time of this session, we've stolen a recipe from television and we're going to demonstrate the upgrade in a 'cooking show' format. We will cover the three over-arching steps of the upgrade and while we let things cook, discuss the finer details around the decisions and experiences some of our customers went through when deciding to leverage the fast forward upgrade process in their own datacenter.
We’ll discuss topics such as workload impact, operational flow and how to recover if you run into issues. Unlike the myth/claim that the tryptophan in turkey will make you sleepy, this session is sure to get your adrenaline pumping.
Automated Migration of Workloads

Abstract: In this session, we will provide technical details about Red Hat’s infrastructure migration solution that accelerates the adoption of OpenStack by migrating workloads from your traditional hypervisor.
In a fully automated fashion, we will demonstrate how we address all the technical challenges around such migration, including: VM format conversion, network mapping, security groups implementation, load-balancing and throttling conversions over multiple nodes, and v2v tooling performance and capabilities.
For more complex use cases, we will also use Ansible Playbooks to augment the migration capabilities with pre- and post-migration automation. See how it's never been easier to migrate your existing workloads to OpenStack.
Distributed HyperConvergence: Pushing OpenStack and Ceph to the Edge

Abstract: Over the last couple of years, Edge Computing has emerged to become the hottest trend in infrastructure. Data gravity and the arrival of 5G networks are driving stateful and specialized workloads to the edge, driving infrastructure to iterate at the speed of software.
This talk will showcase OpenStack HCI features enabling Edge functionalities (resources control with containers and more). We’ll present the latest capabilities of OpenStack TripleO for supporting multiple Ceph clusters on Distributed Edge nodes, in support for Distributed NFV, an emerging use case that allows using less control planes and to spread your VNF on multiple datacenters and edge deployments.
We will also review the requirements to maintain carrier grade performance for virtualized or containerized workloads at the edge, by moving processing functions closer to the end user or data collection point and minimizing the latency impact on the applications to maintain end to end quality of service.

Prepare for Edge Services by Virtualizing Your Central Office

Abstract: Red Hat virtual central office solution (VCO) is a central office-based software-defined infrastructure platform from which Telecommunications service providers can deliver multiple end-user services such as mobile broadband and voice over LTE (VoLTE), as well as support network split and network slicing which is critical to the deployment of next generation of mobile networks. As Telecommunications service providers look to deploy 5G over the next 5 years, they will necessarily have to deploy virtualized, or software-defined infrastructure to accommodate the associated workloads. VCO is a common platform from which service providers can deliver value-added services to mobile subscribers, enterprises and residential customers as well as services that support over-the-top applications.
In this session, you will learn how VCO can deliver mobile enterprise and residential services using Red Hat software-defined infrastructure products and Red Hat’s broad Telecommunications partner ecosystem.
