Red Hat in high-performance computing
Heading to SC17 in Denver? Join Red Hat to learn how we’re helping customers build a high-performance computing strategy.
In the past, HPC workloads have had to rely on custom-built software stacks, most of which relied on proprietary software and overly-specialized hardware. Red Hat is bringing change to the supercomputing arena, from the world’s leading enterprise Linux platform tailored for HPC workloads to massively scalable, fully open cloud infrastructure, along with the management and automation technologies needed to keep these deployments running smoothly.
Stop by the Red Hat booth—#1763—to talk with our experts and learn how we can help your organization. Also, visit the mini-theater at our booth to listen to more than 20 sessions from our partners and customers on how they are using Red Hat portfolio to run a wide variety of workloads at scale, to increase their pace of innovation.

Stop by booth #1763 to talk to the open source experts and watch demos on the latest Red Hat technologies.
Demo: Complete OpenStack storage for Red Hat
Abstract: With the modernization of HPC applications based on containers and the adoption of hybrid cloud infrastructure, many enterprises and government agencies with HPC workloads are increasingly frustrated with existing storage technologies like EMC Isilon, Lustre and IBM Spectrum Storage. This rolling demo will highlight how open, software-defined solutions like Red Hat Gluster Storage and Red Hat Ceph Storage can provide cost-effective alternatives for scale-out NAS, containerized applications, and hybrid cloud environments.
Demo: HPC Infrastructure
Abstract: Demand for data analytics workloads is continually increasing. Be able to provide on-demand data analytics clusters is something that can be realized today with OpenStack and in the very near future with OpenShift. Kevin Jones will walk through what it takes to provision an Apache Spark cluster on OpenStack using the Sahara cluster-as-a-service project and then show what it will look like for applications to order there own on-demand Apache Spark cluster in containers running on OpenShift.
Demo: Emerging HPC technologies
Abstract: Learn how Red Hat is enabling new hardware architectures, supporting various acceleration technologies and cache-coherent interconnects, as well as help driving open innovation and standardization in high-performance computing via collaborative community efforts, like the OpenHPC Project.
