Red Hat CEO Jim Whitehurst will host a webinar on June 2, 2015, from 2-3 p.m. ET to discuss his new book, The Open Organization. Already lauded as "the best business book of the year" and an "affable, entertaining and eye-opening book" that could become "a textbook for managing modern businesses," The Open Organization is for any leader looking for ways to tap into the creativity of their workforce, drive innovation, and achieve superior performance.
Joined by Harvard Business Press editor Melinda Merino for the webinar, Whitehurst will share why he believes businesses should build a culture that focuses on fostering engagement and healthy debate, defers to a meritocracy over a hierarchy, and includes as many people in the decision-making process as possible. Whitehurst believes that businesses should encourage leaders and managers to serve as catalysts sharing context, vision, and empowering people, not micro-managing and sending orders down the chain. During the webinar, Jim will share advice on how leaders and managers can apply the teachings of The Open Organization within their own company and take questions from attendees.
Proceeds from the first three years of sales of The Open Organization will go to the Electronic Frontier Foundation, a non-profit that champions digital rights issues and technology development. In addition, Red Hat will give free copies of the book to the first 50 people to register for the webinar.
