An article from the Red Hat Learning Subscription monthly newsletter. October 2016 edition.

Last month we drastically updated the RHLS Basic catalog interface. I wanted to provide a bit more detail this month on what those changes were, as I’ve gotten a few questions from users.

The first thing I’d like to address are concerns that we removed items from the catalog.

WE DID NOT REMOVE ANYTHING FROM THE CATALOG.

What we did was provide a single catalog listing per class. That means that if a class had an “Online Training” version or a Video Classroom version, they are now listed in the catalog, once, under a single class header. Once you select the course, you can then choose the modality.

In the above example for Systems Administration I, you can see that both the Online Training and Video classroom options are offered under the Systems Administration I class header.

I’ve seen some questions about translations as well.  We are offering the same translations as before, but if there are available translations, the option is selectable from the catalog (as you see above in the screenshot) and also from the table of contents page in the course.

Additionally, we’re now reporting course progress.  Yay doughnuts! You can now see how far you have progressed without having to count pages.

We also added catalog filtering pulldowns so you can look at classes by curriculum (like Cloud or Devops, etc) or modality (Online Training or Video Classroom).  The catalog Search field will search the title or course number of courses.
