For the eleventh year in a row, our associates took an active role in selecting a worthy charitable organization to be the beneficiary of our holiday U.S. corporate donation. During the process, they nominated more than 100 charities and more than 1,200 associates participated in the final vote. For our 2018 corporate holiday donation, Red Hatters have chosen to support Team Rubicon with a $75,000 donation that will contribute to the organization's efforts to provide emergency response support to areas devastated by natural disasters.

Team Rubicon unites the skills and experiences of military veterans with first responders to rapidly deploy emergency response teams. By pairing the skills and experiences of military veterans with first responders, medical professionals and technology solutions, Team Rubicon aims to provide the greatest service and impact possible. Since its inception following the 2010 Haiti earthquake, Team Rubicon has launched more than 310 disaster response operations in the U.S. and across the world - including 86 in 2018 alone.

This year, teams have been active in cleanup efforts after Hurricanes Florence and Michael. Cumulatively to date in North Carolina and Florida, Team Rubicon volunteers have completed 839 work orders and contributed 102,390 work hours - assisting 1,740 individual family members and delivering more than $2.9 million in volunteer labor impact and community cost savings.

Aside from helping communities in North Carolina and Florida stabilize and recover in the wake of devastating hurricanes, Team Rubicon volunteers that work with the U.S. Bureau of Land Management have been helping fight the California wildfires. And, Team Rubicon deployed a mobile Emergency Medical Team (EMT) to the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands to provide medical services after the islands took a direct hit from the eyewall of Super Typhoon Yutu.

In addition to the support provided to communities dealing with natural disasters, Team Rubicon works to provide veterans with an avenue to regain three things they lose after leaving the military - purpose, community and identity, from recognizing the impact one individual can make. Coupled with leadership development and other opportunities, Team Rubicon looks to help veterans transition from military to civilian life.

Red Hat and our associates proudly support important causes and participate in charitable work throughout the year; our corporate donation to Team Rubicon is just one example of our efforts. To extend our associates' reach and encourage their passions, Red Hat matches the qualifying contributions our U.S. associates make to eligible charities through our ongoing matching gifts program.

We believe in Team Rubicon’s mission and are thrilled to support and thank the organization for its inspiring efforts to not only support areas in need of natural disaster support, but also the value it provides to the brave veterans who are part of the teams.
