The events team is gearing up for spring across the globe, and we’re excited about discussing the power of open source software at several events this month. From webinars on reducing IT costs during tough economic times, to understanding the benefits of cloud computing, or hosting our first ever virtual tradeshow, there’s always plenty to see and do at Red Hat events. Worldwide

The JBoss Virtual Experience will be held on February 11. Red Hat and JBoss are bringing this conference to your desktop with a live, one-day event focused on middleware. Attend comprehensive sessions and chat live with open source leaders, executives, key developers, customers and strategic partners. Learn how you can meet new demands, drive innovation and build mission critical applications and services, all while lowering costs. The IDC Cloud Computing Forum will be held February 18 in San Francisco at The Stanford Court. Red Hat is a gold sponsor at this event, and Brian Stevens, CTO and VP of Engineering at Red Hat, will be participating in a panel discussion entitled “Building the Business Case for Cloud Computing: Understanding the Opportunities and Benefits.” Brian will also host a session entitled “Cloud Computing, Virtualization, and Open Source.”
This year’s Southern California Linux Expo (SCaLE) to be held February 20-22 in Los Angeles will feature three separate Red Hat and Fedora presentations. Rob Tiller, vice president and assistant general counsel, IP, will discuss legal issues raised by patent law for FOSS developers and users. Bryan Che, product manager for Red Hat Enterprise MRG (Messaging, Realtime, and Grid), will present “Introduction to Realtime Linux,” providing an overview of Realtime Linux including its development history, current state, a roadmap future Realtime kernel and tools development and current Realtime Linux performance data. In addition, Clint Savage, regional ambassador for the Fedora Project, will demonstrate the toolset in Fedora 10, and how every IT enthusiasts can get the most functionality possible from it.
SCaLE will also host Fedora Activity Day. Please swing by to learn how you can get more involved in the Fedora community, including writing simple tasks, finalizing the New User guide, and packaging fonts for distribution.
EMEA
The GSMA Mobile World Congress will be held in Barcelona from February 16-19. There will be more than 50,000 attendees at this event, which focuses on the global mobile communications market. Please stop by booth 2.1C73 to meet with Red Hat representatives.
Red Hat will be at VMWorld – Cannes (stand 53) from February 24-26.
APAC
Red Hat is hosting a seminar entitled, “Can you Afford not to Look at Open Source” in New Zealand at The George Hotel on February 5. Visit the seminar site to register.

The Red Hat Road Show 2009 will be held in Mexico City on February 18.
