Keynote Session Synopsis
The Power of Participation
Jim Whitehurst, President and CEO, Red Hat
Participation and innovation are tightly linked. Helping communities and companies harness and share innovation beyond the sum of their individual members is a leadership and technology challenge of our time. Take artificial intelligence or machine learning. Instead of locking down knowledge and working in isolation, many companies realize that working together is the only way to solve complex problems. This principle of participation extends through business and technology.
At Red Hat, we see the power of participation every day in the world of open source, where user-driven innovation underlies the advances we are seeing in network evolution, cloud computing, Linux containers, mobile, and big data etc. It is because of this participative movement, which sets the pace of innovation, that open source has become a default choice in IT.
Open Source Powers Enterprise Digital Transformation
Dane Anderson, Vice President, Research Director & Region Manager Serving CIOs, Forrester
Open source innovation helps technology leaders embrace software architecture that is open, flexible, modular, scalable and secure to succeed in a digital world. Software innovation processes need to be collaborative, open – as in scaling beyond the traditional borders of organizations – and operating at the speed of the customer. This session will leverage Forrester insight and a hot-off-the press Asia Pacific survey of 450 CIOs to describe what is happening today and how technology leaders can map their strategies to the opportunity.
Building an Architecture for Continuous Innovation
Lars Herrmann, General Manager, Integrated Solutions Business Unit, Red Hat
Your IT organization's architectures, processes, and platforms must let you build new kinds of apps in response to ever-evolving business demands. Incremental innovation doesn't seem like enough anymore — you must be able to innovate continuously through rapid development and modern operations. Red Hat® solutions, tools, and process expertise can help you create usefully hybrid environments, automate and streamline workflows, and develop better solutions faster. But don't take our word for it — we'll show you how our customers are leading the way.
Breakout Session Synopsis
Containers in the Enterprise
Hey Chee Weng, Senior Solutions Architect, Singapore, Red Hat
Successful IT organizations are able to balance the advancement of traditional enterprise applications, services, and infrastructure with the delivery of innovative cloud-native applications. While meeting the demands of the business is challenging, advancements in container technology is helping to both modernize existing workloads and drive agile processes for new application development. But doing this at scale, and meeting the requirements of enterprise IT are significant challenges. Container management, security, orchestration, identity and access policy, data persistence, are all areas that must be addressed in order for containers to cross from the developer's laptop, to the server clusters in the datacenter. This session will illustrate how enterprise IT can accelerate business agility and achieve greater security across hybrid cloud environments by leveraging containers and will address how to make them consumable for the enterprise. It will also set the story straight around the myths and misperceptions of containers.
Modernizing your Enterprise Application Architecture with Microservices and API Management
An Nguyen, Senior Solutions Architect, Middleware & Cloud, Singapore, Red Hat
Microservices remains a very popular topic, yet there's a huge install base of monolithic applications in production today along with the infrastructure to manage them. In this session, we'll compare and contrast the two architectural styles, when to consider each, and what type of technologies and platforms you need to have in place to realize the value of microservices. We'll also look at the challenges surrounding microservices and how API Management solutions can help overcome them.
Enabling Digital Transformation
Sivaram Shunmugam, Enterprise Technologist, ASEAN, Red Hat
Applications, and the infrastructure that they run on, are rapidly changing as new computing models are introduced. New models, like virtualization, cloud, containers, DevOps, and mode 1/mode 2 applications, each introduce new capabilities and new complexities into organizations. A suite of Red Hat management products can help you adopt new application and infrastructure capabilities and provide management across heterogeneous environments. Its capabilities include: - A cloud management platform (Red Hat CloudForms) that allows you to gain control of your virtualization environment, and build and manage a private or hybrid cloud - A radically simple IT automation engine (Ansible Tower by Red Hat) that automates cloud provisioning, application deployment, intra-service orchestration, and many other IT needs - A configuration and life-cycle management solution (Red Hat Satellite) that makes infrastructure easier to deploy, scale, and manage across physical, virtual, cloud, and container environments - Red Hat Insights that help you move from reactive fire-fighting to proactive, smart IT management Join this session to learn how these products can help you manage hybrid, heterogeneous environments.
Containers in Action - Transform Application Delivery with OpenShift and DevOps
Stephen Bylo, Senior Solutions Architect, ASEAN, Red Hat
Learn the best practices for improving applications delivery with DevOps and Containers. Find out how Red Hat helps customers improve application delivery, how containers help streamline processes, and how container application platforms can help provide a consistent environment for dev and ops teams to collaborate across multiple clouds.
Why Software-Defined Storage is Critical for your IT Strategy
Chris Mawer, Storage Business Unit Manager, APAC, Red Hat
Businesses today are increasingly adopting software-defined technologies to become more agile, reduce cost, increase scale, and stay relevant. Today’s key innovators, such as Airbnb & Uber, have demonstrated their ability to redefine entire markets through the use of modern software platforms. Enterprises need an alternative to traditional infrastructure. Red Hat offers a complete portfolio of next-generation cloud, container, operating system and software-defined storage solutions. Software-defined storage runs on clusters of standard x86 hardware and delivers petabyte-scale storage for demanding workloads. Attend this session to learn how Red Hat technologies provide a dynamic foundation for modern data centers, enabling organizations to become more efficient and advanced.
Enterprise Mobility: The First Step Towards Digital Transformation
Phoon Woh Shon, Senior Solutions Architect, Singapore, Red Hat
Digital technologies such as enterprise mobility are a catalyst for new ways of doing business and are driving a wave of innovation and change for organizations. Enterprise mobility offers opportunities for companies to reinvent business processes, engage in new ways with customers, business partners and employees, to improve customer satisfaction and drive operational efficiency. However enterprise mobility can be challenging to IT as it demands more agile IT ecosystems to enable collaboration on faster, continuous development cycles, openness to new tool chains and architectures, and integration with existing core systems. This session will discuss how a mobile application platform could enable organizations to develop and deploy mobile apps in an agile and flexible manner, take advantage of open technologies and standard toolkits while centralizing control over security, back-end integrations, and policy management, to enable digital transformation with mobile.
